Peacock has canceled M.I.A., the Miami-set crime drama from Ozark creator Bill Dubuque, after just one season on the streamer. The series premiered with all nine episodes in May and starred Shannon Gisela as a drug runner navigating Miami’s criminal underworld.
Why was ‘M.I.A.’ canceled?
The exact reason for the cancellation hasn’t been disclosed, according to Deadline. The series premiered with all nine episodes and got an extra push from NBC, which aired the pilot on the network days later. Deadline also noted M.I.A. was one of the rare series both set and filmed in Miami.
M.I.A. also joins a run of Peacock cancellations in 2026, including the spy thriller Ponies, starring Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson, in June after one season, and the Simu Liu-led The Copenhagen Test in April, also after one season. That same month, Peacock ended Law & Order: Organized Crime following its fifth season, after the SVU spinoff moved to the streamer from NBC.
What is ‘M.I.A.’ about?
Per the official description, “Restless in the Florida Keys, Etta Tiger Jonze dreams of a life in Miami’s glittering, sub-tropical kingdom. When her family’s drug-running business shatters in tragedy, however, Etta embarks on a dangerous journey through Miami’s neon-lit underbelly that will define who she is and what she’s ultimately capable of.”
