,

Whitney Peak has joined the cast of Miami Vice ’85, Joseph Kosinski’s new take on the classic series starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler at Universal Pictures. Deadline broke the news of her casting. She joins Alden Ehrenreich, who was added to the cast earlier this month.

What is ‘Miami Vice ’85’ about?

Per Deadline, “the film explores the glamour and corruption of mid-’80s Miami in an all-new version of Miami Vice, inspired by the pilot episode of the landmark Universal Television series that influenced culture and set the style of everything from fashion to filmmaking.” The outlet reports the film will be shot for Imax.

Deadline reported that, “Peak was one of many female actors testing for the part with the final chem tests taking place with Michael B. Jordan last month.”

The trade publication also lists that their sources say Peak will play Jordan’s love interest in the film, though they stopped short of confirming that detail.

Who is behind ‘Miami Vice ’85’?

Kosinski directs from a script by Dan Gilroy, based on characters created by Anthony Yerkovich from the original series, which he executive produced with Michael Mann. Eric Warren Singer wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay. Dylan Clark, through Dylan Clark Productions, and Kosinski produce. Sara Scott and Christina Hoffrogge oversee the project for the studio.

Peak will be seen on the big screen soon as Lenore Dove in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

Miami Vice ’85 is set for release May 19, 2028, with production beginning this year.
