Amazon MGM Studios has released the first teaser for The Thomas Crown Affair, Michael B. Jordan’s romantic heist thriller. The film marks Jordan’s second feature as a director, following Creed III, and opens in theaters March 5, 2027.
Taylor Russell was originally set to star opposite Jordan as the insurance investigator but exited the production amid creative differences shortly after filming began in London, per The Hollywood Reporter. After Russell’s exit, the studio and producers received a flurry of incoming calls about the role before quickly landing on Arjona, per Variety. Development on the remake dates back to 2016, when MGM first acquired rights with Jordan attached to star, before the project shifted to Amazon following the studio’s acquisition of MGM, per THR.
At CinemaCon earlier this year, Jordan teased that the film “isn’t just another remake,” promising a fresh take on the material, per THR.
What is ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ about?
According to the official description, the film is “a visually breathtaking, sensual, and unexpectedly moving heist thriller, where the most dangerous man in the room is the one nobody’s watching.” The remake follows Norman Jewison’s 1968 original starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, and John McTiernan’s 1999 version with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. The screenplay is by Drew Pearce and Jason Hall, based on Alan R. Trustman’s original story.

Jordan leads alongside Arjona, Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira and Pilou Asbæk. Jordan produces through his Outlier Society banner alongside Elizabeth Raposo, Charles Roven for Atlas Entertainment, Marc Toberoff and Patrick McCormick. Trustman executive produces alongside Jason Hall.
