Myles Bullock Be has joined Universal’s Snoop Dogg biopic, now-titled Snoop, as Dr. Dre, reuniting the actor with director Craig Brewer. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news.
Bullock Be plays Dr. Dre, whose relationship with Snoop Dogg was central to the rapper’s rise. As the report notes, Dre discovered a young Snoop Dogg on a demo cassette while making his solo album The Chronic in the early 1990s and featured him on several tracks, including “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang.” Dre went on to mentor Snoop Dogg and produce his debut album, Doggystyle, considered one of the defining albums of the 1990s.
The role reunites Bullock Be with Brewer, who directed him in Peacock’s Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist alongside Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson and Samuel L. Jackson. His other credits include White Men Can’t Jump, a stint on Starz’s BMF and Marvel’s Runaways.
Jonathan Daviss stars as Snoop Dogg. Brewer directs from his rewrite of Joe Robert Cole’s original script. Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum produce for Imagine Entertainment, alongside Snoop Dogg and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker. Jeb Brody executive produces, with Ryan Jones and Tony Ducret overseeing the project for Universal.
Snoop opens in theaters Aug. 6, 2027.
