Marvel Studios packed Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con with a blockbuster presentation led by Kevin Feige, saving its biggest moment for last: Ryan Coogler’s return to the franchise and the reveal of David Jonsson as the new Black Panther in Black Panther 3, arriving in theaters Dec. 15, 2028.
‘Black Panther 3’ and the new Black Panther
Coogler, who wrote and directed both Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever before his recent Sinners, returns to Marvel Studios to direct Black Panther 3. Letitia Wright and Winston Duke confirmed their returns to the film before Coogler introduced Alien: Romulus, Industry and Rye Lane star Jonsson as the new Black Panther, T’Challa’s son.
‘Ghost Rider’ starring Ryan Gosling
Feige also announced a new Ghost Rider film, welcoming Gosling and director Shawn Levy to the stage to introduce the project. Jonathan Tropper, who previously worked with Levy on Star Wars: Starfighter and Your Friends & Neighbors, is writing the script. The film is set for a 2028 theatrical release.
The ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ mega-panel
The Avengers: Doomsday panel brought Robert Downey Jr. and 16 cast members to the stage alongside directors Anthony and Joe Russo, moderated by Feige. Hayley Atwell also made a surprise appearance, confirming she will return as Peggy Carter in the film. An exclusive in-room look at footage was also screened.
Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters Dec. 18, 2026.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
Jon Bernthal made a surprise appearance to discuss his role as Frank Castle/The Punisher in Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day and preview an exclusive early look at the film. The film opens in theaters July 31.
