‘Avengers: Doomsday’s New Trailer Is Here — Thor, Steve Rogers And Everything We See

,

Marvel Studios dropped the official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday Monday morning, ahead of the film’s expected Hall H reveal at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25. Tickets are now on sale for Infinity Vision certified screens. The film opens Dec. 18.

What happens in the new ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailer?

The trailer opens with a voice that appears to be Doom’s, with Downey speaking in a thick accent. “Something’s coming,” the voice says. “Something we may not be able to deter. Before this day is done, we shall be faced with an unthinkable decision.

Much of the trailer centers on Thor (Chris Hemsworth), who warns his fellow superheroes about the threat Doom poses. The footage builds to the moment Thor is reunited with Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who is wearing plain clothes and lifts Mjölnir to prove it’s really him — calling back to the moment in Endgame when Steve proved himself worthy during the final battle against Thanos, per USA Today.

The rest of the trailer shows three separate groups coming together: the Fantastic Four, the Avengers and the X-Men. The Fantastic Four and Avengers are shown meeting in Avengers Tower as Thor gives them a speech about the need for unity. Various Avengers are then shown facing off against the X-Men — Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) sparring with Gambit (Channing Tatum), while Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) faces off against Mystique (Rebecca Romijn) — suggesting these groups begin the film as adversaries before uniting against Doom.

Other notable moments include the return of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and an emotional scene between Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and his daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton). Doom keeps his mask on throughout the footage.

What is ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ about?

According to the official description, “beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.”

The film is the culmination of the MCU’s multiverse-crossing storytelling over the past seven years since Avengers: Endgame, per Variety.

The ensemble cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, Mabel Cadena and Tenoch Huerta Mejia.
