Who Is In ‘The Social Reckoning’? Cast List, Trailer Premiere And More

,

Sony Pictures has released the teaser trailer for The Social Reckoning, Aaron Sorkin’s companion piece to David Fincher’s 2010 film The Social Network. The film stars Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong, who plays Mark Zuckerberg.

While the film shares DNA with The Social Network (Sorkin wrote both) it is not a direct sequel. Where The Social Network told the story of how Facebook was built, The Social Reckoning turns its lens on what it broke. The casting itself signals the shift, as Zuckerberg has aged from Jesse Eisenberg into Jeremy Strong.

What is ‘The Social Reckoning’ about?

According to the official description, the film is “inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.” The film is based on the events that led to the Wall Street Journal’s 2021 exposé The Facebook Files, drawn from internal documents leaked by whistleblower Haugen, per Deadline.

Who stars in ‘The Social Reckoning’?

Madison leads as Frances Haugen, White plays reporter Jeff Horwitz and Strong plays Mark Zuckerberg. The cast also includes Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen and Bill Burr.

Sorkin writes and directs from an original screenplay. Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin and Stuart Besser produce. Lauren Lohman, Roger McNamee, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove executive produce.

When does ‘The Social Reckoning’ open in theaters?
