Neon has released the full trailer for Hope, the new sci-fi action thriller from South Korean director Na Hong-jin. The film marks Na’s first feature since The Wailing in 2016 and his return to Cannes, where it premiered in the main competition for the Palme d’Or and was the first South Korean film to compete since Decision to Leave in 2022, per Deadline.
Neon acquired North American and English-language distribution rights to the film ahead of its Cannes premiere, per Variety.
What is ‘Hope’ about?
According to the official description, the film is set in Hope Harbor, “a remote village near the Demilitarized Zone,” where “police outpost chief Bum-seok (Hwang Jung-min) and officer Sung-ae (Hoyeon) are called to find a mysterious creature that has wreaked havoc on the village. In the nearby forest, a coterie of local hunters, including Sung-ki (Zo In-sung), set out to track the beast and find themselves hunted instead. But all is not as it seems, and perceptions can be misleading.”
Who stars in ‘Hope’?
The cast includes Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender. Na Hong-jin wrote and directed the film, produced by Forged Films and co-produced by Plus M Entertainment.
When does ‘Hope’ open in theaters?
Hope opens in theaters Sept. 9.
