Ashley Trail became the first houseguest evicted from Big Brother Season 28 on CBS, sent home before she ever got the chance to show what she was capable of. The 24-year-old bartender from Chicago — who came in identifying most with former houseguests Rachel Reilly and Britney Haynes — reflected on what went wrong and what she wishes had gone differently.
For Trail, the biggest missing piece was a working relationship. “Absolutely, a working relationship could have helped me stay off the block,” she said in an exit interview with BLKCinema.com. “However, I just really couldn’t find one in any way that I looked.”
She also feels her fellow houseguests never gave her a fair shot. “I think that everybody kind of dismissed me as a player and underestimated me and just the way that I spoke, my personality, and my potential competition beast in me was never shown,” she said. “I mean, I got one competition that I got to fight for my life in, and I absolutely would have loved to have somebody by my side, yes.”
Trail’s exit comes during a packed premiere week that brought surprise appearances from Reilly — the very houseguest Trail previously cited as a personal Big Brother icon — alongside the reveals that Survivor‘s Rick Devens, Big Brother‘s Angela Murray and Survivor 45 winner Dee Valladares would all be competing this season.
Big Brother Season 28 airs Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays on CBS, and streams the next day Paramount+.
