Scout Cain looks a lot older than fans remember, and there’s a good reason for that: General Hospital on ABC just recast the role with a new actress playing an aged-up version of the character.
Scout has a new face after an on-screen age jump
Scout is the daughter of Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and the late Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), a character who’s been part of the canvas since being born on screen in February 2017. Cosette Abinante had played the role since 2022, but the part was recast this summer as Scout aged up, a move soap fans will recognize as SORAS.
Kayden Brenna Tokarski steps into the role
The new Scout is 16-year-old Kayden Brenna Tokarski, making her daytime debut with the part. Per the official announcement from Soap Opera Network, Tokarski was first spotted in a behind-the-scenes video shared online of the cast and crew celebrating the taping of the show’s 16,000th episode. Her credits include several episodes of Dhar Mannand two Lifetime original movies, My Professor’s Deadly Secret and Killer in the Wood, with Curse of Vandor and its sequel next on her slate.
“A dream come true,” Tokarski called the role in an Instagram post, thanking casting director Mark Teschner and executive producer Frank Valentini for the opportunity.
Getting comfortable in Port Charles
Speaking with Soap Opera Digest, Tokarski pushed back on the idea that an older Scout would come across as bratty. “I think just the opposite,” she said, describing the character as “a problem-solver” navigating more grown-up relationships in her life.
She singled out two co-stars for helping her settle in: Katelyn MacMullen, who plays on-screen stepmother Willow, and Cameron Mathison, who plays her on-screen father, Drew.
Per Michael Fairman TV, Scout’s debut episode found her alongside Willow, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), asking Tracy for access to the Quartermaine lake for swim training, a favor with a catch attached that left Tracy suspicious of her stepgranddaughter’s motives.
General Hospital airs weekdays at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT on ABC, with next-day streaming on Hulu.
