Love Island USA is filmed on the other side of the world, which means by the time a new episode drops on Peacock at 9 p.m. ET, the Islanders in Fiji are already well into the following afternoon. So, what time is it in Fiji during key moments from the show that air?
Where is the ‘Love Island USA’ villa located?
The Love Island USA villa, as well as and Casa Amor, are both located in the Mamanuca Islands, an archipelago in western Fiji known for white-sand beaches, coral reefs, and turquoise lagoons, per Peacock’s blog. The show has filmed in Fiji since Season 5, after earlier installments in Las Vegas, Hawaii, and California.
The Season 8 villa is a custom-built two-story structure. Per Peacock, host Ariana Madix described it as designed for “maximum romantic impact,” with communal and private spaces including a pool, a photo booth, a speakeasy, the Soul Ties outdoor daybed, and the newly added Say Less waterfront lounge. Casa Amor is also in Fiji, a short distance from the main villa.
What time is it in Fiji when ‘Love Island USA’ airs?
Fiji Standard Time (FJT) runs at UTC+12, placing it 17 hours ahead of Eastern Time. When Love Island USA Season 8 airs at 9 p.m. ET, it is 2 p.m. the following afternoon in Fiji. For West Coast viewers watching at 6 p.m. PT, the time in Fiji is 11 a.m. the next day.
Fiji does not observe daylight saving time, so the gap stays consistent throughout the summer run of the show.
Why does the time difference matter?
Per Peacock’s blog, Love Island USA films in real time — but because of Fiji’s time difference and editing needs, new episodes are released on a delay. That gap between what happened in the villa and what airs on Peacock is part of what makes the voting element feel high-stakes: fans are casting votes while the season is still actively being filmed, and the Islanders have no access to the outside world. The results of America’s Vote are often the only signal they get about how viewers are reading their connections.
When does ‘Love Island USA’ Season 8 air?
Love Island USA Season 8 streams new episodes on Peacock at 9 p.m. ET, Sunday through Tuesday and Thursday through Friday. New episodes do not drop on Wednesdays. Love Island: Aftersun, hosted by Ciara Miller and Tefi Pessoa, drops every Saturday.
