Netflix has released the official full trailer and additional images for Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again?, the third film in Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? franchise, with Taraji P. Henson joining the cast.
What is ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’ about?
Per the official description, “the couples reunite in celebration as Marcus and Angela’s daughter prepares to tie the knot. After being apart for quite some time, they quickly learn that as much as things change, they also stay the same. Realizing their children have grown up to be so much like them, they must reflect on the examples they’ve set and ask themselves that age-old question: Why did they get married … again?”
The film takes the friend group to Italy, where Angela (Tasha Smith) and Marcus (Michael Jai White) gather everyone for the wedding of their daughter, Jasmine (Armani Greer), to her fiancé, Wesley (Everett Osborne), according to Netflix’s Tudum. Wesley is revealed to be the son of Roselyn (Henson), a longtime member of the friend group whom audiences are meeting for the first time.

As the group reunites, secrets begin to surface, according to Tudum. Unexpected lovers are caught together behind closed doors, tensions flare and a punch is thrown, with the trailer also poking fun at Mike’s (Richard T. Jones) new wig, per Tudum. Sheila (Jill Scott) offers to save Angela a glass of wine, only for Angela to ask for “a bottle” instead, Tudum reports.
The trailer also highlights the gap between appearance and reality among the friend group. Kenya (Laya Deleon Hayes), daughter of Terry (Perry) and Dianne (Sharon Leal), tells her parents and their friends, “Your marriages are so perfect,” according to Tudum, prompting Sheila to admit, “We didn’t tell you how unperfect we really are.”
Who stars in ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’
Perry returns as Terry, alongside Henson as Roselyn, Scott as Sheila, Jones as Mike, Smith as Angela, White as Marcus, Lamman Rucker as Troy and Leal as Dianne. The new cast includes Greer, Osborne, Da’Vinchi as Marcus Jr., Hayes as Kenya, Jaden Michael as T.J., Charles L. Smith II as Denver, Derrick A. King as Nick and Sydney Winbush as Regina.
Perry writes, directs and produces the film, alongside Angi Bones and Tony Strickland.
The franchise began with 2007’s Why Did I Get Married?, following four couples on an annual marriage retreat, and continued with 2010’s Why Did I Get Married Too?, which took the group to the Bahamas.

Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again? premieres on Netflix on Sept. 9.
