Tracee Ellis Ross will make her Broadway debut this summer, taking over the lead role in Every Brilliant Thing at the Hudson Theatre in New York City. Ross steps in following Mariska Hargitay, who leads the production from May 26 through July 5. Ross begins performances July 7 and plays through Aug. 9.
The production originally opened March 12 with Daniel Radcliffe, who plays his final performance May 24. Every Brilliant Thing is a 2026 Tony Award nominee for Best Revival of a Play.
What is ‘Every Brilliant Thing’ about?
Per the official description, the play follows “its central character looks back at their life and the glimmers of hope that carried them through — all told through a list of every wonderful, beautiful, and delightful thing that makes life worth living.” It is a one-person show written by Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe, directed by Jeremy Herrin.

In a statement, Macmillan said of Ross: “I’ve been a fan of Tracee’s work for a long time and knew her quick-wit, intelligence and emotional depth would be the perfect fit for Every Brilliant Thing. We are beyond thrilled that she has chosen to make her Broadway debut with us this summer.”
