HBO has released a new teaser for Lanterns, and it comes with a casting reveal. Laura Linney is set to star in the upcoming DC Studios drama, with the actress making her first appearance in the footage. The series stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, two Green Lanterns at the center of the story.

Chandler and Pierre lead the cast alongside Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Linney, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson and Jasmine Cephas Jones.
What is ‘Lanterns’ about?
Per the official description, the series “follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
The pilot is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, who serve as co-creators. Mundy serves as showrunner. The first two episodes are directed by James Hawes, with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel and Alik Sakharov also directing. James Gunn and Peter Safran executive produce alongside Mundy, Lindelof, King, Ron Schmidt and Hawes. The series is based on the DC comic characters from Green Lantern.
When does ‘Lanterns’ premiere?
Lanterns premieres August 16 on HBO and streams on HBO Max.
