What did Ryan Coogler say about the new ‘The X-Files’?

Coogler said, “I’ve loved The X-Files for a long time, so getting the chance to write and direct the pilot has meant a great deal to me. What Chris Carter created is special, and we wanted to honor everything that made the original series connect with so many people while also finding our own way into that world.”

He also praised the cast and crew, saying Deadwyler, Patel and the rest of the cast “have brought such original perspectives and performances to these characters.”

Coogler, Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian, the founders of Proximity Media, said in a joint statement, “It was also incredibly special to have our fellow Proximity co-founder Ludwig Göransson contribute the score for the pilot, making this a true collaboration across the Proximity family.”

Coogler wrote, directed and executive produced the pilot. Jennifer Yale is showrunner and executive producer. Zinzi Coogler, Ohanian and original series creator Chris Carter also executive produce, and Simone Harris of Proximity Media, Deadwyler and Patel are co-executive producers. Coogler also remains an executive producer on the series.
