Nia Long Joins Teyana Taylor’s ‘Get Lite’ at Paramount, Reuniting With Storm Reid

,

Nia Long has joined the cast of Get Lite, the Paramount film marking Teyana Taylor’s feature directorial debut. Variety first reported the news. The role reunites Long with Storm Reid, her co-star in the 2023 thriller Missing.

Variety describes the film as following a dance student, played by Ceyair Wright, who is “talented, but sheltered” and “finds inspiration, love and family in the last place he expected: the subways of New York City.” Reid plays the girl who opens his life to new possibilities.

Reid and Wright lead the film, and Long joins an ensemble including Leslie Odom Jr., Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Jodie Turner-Smith, Asante Blackk, Woody McClain, Tylil James and Khayr Bullock.

Starring recently in Michael, Long also has on her to-do list the upcoming Netflix film Don’t Ever Wonder, opposite her Love Jones co-star Larenz Tate.

Taylor directs from a screenplay by Maurice Williams, based on a spec script by Eric Gross that appeared on the Black List in 2020. Production is underway in New York City.

Reid also produces, alongside Kenya Barris and Anni Weisband of Khalabo Ink Society, Robyn Simpson of Reid’s banner A Seed & Wings Productions, and Bill Karesh of Offbrnd. Taylor produces with Courtney “Coco” Gilbert under their banner, The Aunties.

Paramount has set Get Lite for a wide theatrical release Aug. 20, 2027.
