,

Women Like Us, the Netflix film from the Obamas’ Higher Ground and Charles D. King’s Macro Film Studios, has rounded out its cast with nine additions: Greg Tarzan Davis, Melanie Liburd, Harry Lennix, Joy Bryant, Danielle Pinnock, Dewayne Perkins, Samara Joy, Tiffany Boone and Gail Bean.

Per Deadline‘s description, the film follows “a recently widowed woman is dragged to the Hamptons by her lifelong best friends and sister on what should have been her 30th anniversary. The weekend becomes a reckoning with grief, with marriage, with the sisterhood that’s carried them throughout the years, and with the realization that dreams don’t have an expiration date.”

The film is led by Vivica A. Fox, Vanessa Williams, Jenifer Lewis and Whoopi Goldberg, as previously announced. Character details for the nine new additions haven’t been disclosed.

Tasha Smith directs from a script by Ali Kinney, with writing from Tracy Oliver. James Lopez and Poppy Hanks produce for Macro, with founder King executive producing. Anikah McLaren and Mark R. Wright produce for Higher Ground, with Michelle Obama executive producing.

The film is the latest of several projects from Netflix’s partnership with Higher Ground, which won an Oscar for the documentary American Factory. Other upcoming projects from the partnership include the series The Altruists and All the Sinners Bleed, as well as an untitled mother-daughter comedy starring Julianne Moore.
