Neon has released the trailer for It Ends, the debut feature from writer-director Alex Ullom that premiered at SXSW in March 2025 to a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film opens in limited release this August.
The film had an unusual path to distribution. After premiering at SXSW, it was briefly made available to rent through Letterboxd’s newly launched Video Store feature, a platform for curated unreleased independent films, before Neon acquired worldwide rights in December 2025 for a theatrical release, per IndieWire.
The project comes from the producers of Backrooms, A24’s 2026 horror hit, per IndieWire. Neon has also already acquired rights to Ullom’s next film, 4 X 4: The Event, per IndieWire.
What is ‘It Ends’ about?
According to the official description, “a group of recent grads head out on a late-night drive for grub, hoping to enjoy one final hangout before their paths diverge. Instead, they accidentally turn onto a never-ending, two-lane hellscape surrounded by untold horrors and cosmic forces beyond their understanding. Cramped together inside a Jeep Cherokee and with the miles stretching infinitely ahead, they face a choice: embrace their new existence or fight to escape it.”
Who stars in ‘It Ends’?
The cast includes Phinehas Yoon, Akira Jackson, Noah Toth and Mitchell Cole. Ullom writes, directs and edits. Evan Barber and Carrie Carusone produce.
When does ‘It Ends’ open in theaters?
It Ends opens in limited release Aug. 21, expanding wider Aug. 28.
