Marvel Studios has cast Maya Boyd as Storm in its untitled X-Men film, part of a wave of casting confirmed during the Disney Entertainment Showcase at D23.
Kevin Feige, star Sadie Sink and director Jake Schreier welcomed the new additions on stage: Boyd as Storm, Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Inde Navarrette as Rogue. Adam Driver confirmed via a recorded video message that he will play Mister Sinister.
Boyd, best known for originating a role in the Broadway musical & Juliet, takes on Storm, a character previously played by Halle Berry across the original films and Alexandra Shipp in the prequel series.
Sink’s casting as Jean Grey predates D23, having first been confirmed alongside her role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Weaving takes on Emma Frost, previously played by January Jones in X-Men: First Class, while Abbott’s Professor X and Connor’s Scott Summers/Cyclops mark the franchise’s second live-action iterations of those roles following Patrick Stewart/James McAvoy and James Marsden, respectively.
Marvel has not yet released plot details, a title, or additional casting for the project, which is directed by Jake Schreier, known most recently for Thunderbolts.
The untitled X-Men film opens in theaters May 5, 2028.
