Paramount+ has released the official trailer for The Varnell Hill Show, the Martin spinoff starring Tommy Davidson, following the first-look images of the series released earlier this month. The series was initially set for BET+ before moving to Paramount+ after the former folded into the latter under Paramount Skydance.
According to the official description, “set behind the scenes of a long-running late-night talk show, The Varnell Hill Show follows Varnell (Davidson) as he fights to stay relevant in a rapidly changing entertainment landscape. Between network executives eager to modernize the show, a chaotic writers’ room, celebrity guests, family drama, and his own outsized ego, Varnell quickly discovers that keeping a television empire together may be harder than building one in the first place.”
The series reunites Martin Lawrence and Bentley Kyle Evans nearly three decades after Davidson’s Varnell first appeared on Martin, with Lawrence making special appearances throughout the season.
Davidson leads the cast alongside Kym Whitley, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Nick Cafero, Emmanuel Hudson and Chris Williams. Guest stars also include Ms. Pat, Deon Cole, Damon Wayans, Mike Epps and Omarion.
Lawrence, Davidson, Jesse Collins and Dionne Harmon executive produce for Jesse Collins Entertainment, alongside Stacy Lyles, Rae Proctor and Robert Lawrence for Runteldat Entertainment, and Mark Greenberg, Andrew Horne and Evans for Harvest Studios. Evans also serves as showrunner, writer and director. The series is produced for Paramount+ in association with BET Studios.
