Joe Miñoso is departing Chicago Fire on NBC after 15 seasons, Miñoso, who has played firefighter Joe Cruz since the series’ premiere, will appear in a few of episodes at the start of Season 15 to wrap his character’s arc before departing.
Miñoso first appeared in the Chicago Fire pilot as a guest star before returning in nearly every episode of Season 1, earning a promotion to series regular at the start of Season 2 . His departure leaves only three original cast members remaining: Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg and Christian Stolte, as Variety noted.
Miñoso’s exit comes as the show enters a big transition period. As we previously reported, BMF and All-American alum Da’Vinchi joins the cast as a new firefighter candidate, while veteran showrunner Andrea Newman’s departure after 14 seasons brings in Victor Teran as the new showrunner.
