Halle Berry and Zoë Kravitz have been cast in the rom-com Otherwise Engaged, alongside Colin Firth and Jack Whitehall. Deadline first reported the news. Suzanne Farwell, a longtime producer and collaborator of Nancy Meyers, will direct from a script she co-wrote with Gabriel Mizrahi.
What is ‘Otherwise Engaged’ about?
Per Deadline, “Charlie (Whitehall) is ready to marry the love of his life, Gabby (Kravitz), until his estranged father (Firth), a fallen business tycoon fresh out of prison, shows up on their doorstep and soon falls for Gabby’s fiercely independent mother (Berry). Now, their parents’ unlikely romance threatens to turn Charlie and Gabby’s dream wedding into their worst nightmare.”
Who is behind ‘Otherwise Engaged’?
Susan Cartsonis and Farwell produce for Resonate Entertainment, alongside Laura Rister for Esme Grace Pictures. Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales and will launch the film for pre-sales at the TIFF Market, while CAA Media Finance handles U.S. rights.
Farwell said, per Deadline: “I am passionate about making films that make us laugh out loud while taking us on a deep and meaningful emotional journey. Having spent much of my career helping bring sophisticated relationship comedies to the screen, I couldn’t be more excited to bring my love for this genre to Otherwise Engaged. When does ‘Otherwise Engaged’ begin production?
Production is set to begin in March 2027 in New York.
