Netflix has released first-look photos for Give Me Some Sugah, starring Taraji P. Henson and based on the true story of Lenore Lindsey.
The logline is: “Based on the incredible true story of Lenore Lindsey, Give Me Some Sugah follows a Chicago bakery owner who is stunned by an incredible discovery that inspires her to reclaim lost time, heal old wounds, and find purpose in life’s unexpected miracles.”
The film, previously known as ‘Tis So Sweet, is based on a news story that went viral in November 2024, according to Netflix’s Tudum. It marks the second film from Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin’s faith-based partnership with Netflix, following Ruth & Boaz.
Who stars in ‘Give Me Some Sugah’?
Henson leads the cast as Lenore Lindsey, alongside Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott (Joey Bada$$), Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Russell Hornsby, Alexis Louder, Semaj Prather, Arischa Conner, Angela Davis, Caroline Avery Granger, Tasha Smith and DeVon Franklin.
The project is the latest Henson’s long-standing relationship with Netflix and Perry. She previously starred in Perry’s Netflix thriller Tyler Perry’s Straw and signed a two-picture deal with the streamer to star in and produce original films.
Smith directs from a script by Randy Brown. Franklin and Perry produce. Tony L. Strickland and Angi Bones executive produce for Tyler Perry Studios, alongside Bart Lipton.
