Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko announced at New York Comic Con on Friday that Paramount+ has renewed Avatar: Seven Havens for Books 3 and 4, aka Seasons 3 and 4. It was previously renewed for Season 2. They also revealed a new animated series, Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos, the next installment in the franchise.
What is ‘Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos’ about?
According to the official description, “In Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos a rebellious teenage Avatar bucks thousands of years of tradition by choosing to learn the four elements through globetrotting adventures, staying one step ahead of his angry teacher, rowdy pirates, and chaotic spirits – all while helping the world in his own unique ways.” Panel attendees got a first look at Kuruk and his pet, Nikik. Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios produce the series, with Konietzko as showrunner. Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date.
What’s next for ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’?
Books 3 and 4 will continue the story of Avatar Pavi and her twin sister, Nisha. More details on Books 2, 3 and 4 will come later. The first three episodes of Book 1 premiered Friday on Paramount+. Episodes 4 through 6 follow Oct. 16, episodes 7 through 9 on Oct. 23, and episodes 10 through 13 on Oct. 30.
At the panel, DiMartino and Konietzko were joined by Seven Havens executive producer Ethan Spaulding and co-executive producer Sehaj Sethi. The voices of Pavi, Nisha and Jae, Saheli Khan, Aishu Devan and Major Curda, also appeared. Janet Varney, the original voice of Korra, moderated. The panel included a “script to screen” clip on how the series is made.
