Netflix and Shondaland have announced a new limited series spinoff of Bridgerton, currently titled Untitled Bridgerton Project. It will focus on the family matriarch, Lady Violet, in her younger years.
The announcement states that the series “will chronicle the early life of a young Lady Violet and tell the story of her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton.” Like Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, it’s a prequel-style limited series that looks back at a central figure before the events of the main show.
Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini write, showrun and executive produce. Tom Verica directs and executive produces, and Betsy Beers also executive produces. Casting has not been announced.
Season 5 of Bridgerton is in production in London, with Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza) as the leads. This is the second Bridgerton spinoff following Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Netflix has not announced a premiere date, a title or cast for the Lady Violet series.
