BritBox has revealed further casting for Hercule, the Hercule Poirot series starring Edward Bluemel, with Jessica Alexander, Honor Swinton Byrne, Omari Douglas, Paul Forman, Arthur Hughes, Ralf Little, River Medway, Katherine Parkinson, Natalie Quarry and Toby Stephens joining the cast. The series has begun filming in Liverpool.
Per the official description, the series is “an intimate study of Hercule Poirot, the man and an epic portrait of Britain between the wars. Hercule will center around three of Christie’s early stories, while also introducing Hercule Poirot to future friends and allies and one particular nemesis…”
The second Agatha Christie novel to be adapted is Peril at End House, following Lord Edgware Dies, which was published as Thirteen at Dinner in the U.S.
Bluemel stars as Poirot, joined by Alexander, Swinton Byrne, Douglas, Forman, Hughes, Little, Medway, Parkinson, Quarry and Stephens.
Benji Walters wrote the series. Jonny Campbell directs the first two episodes, Chanya Button directs the middle two and Alrick Riley directs the final two. Charlie Palmer serves as series producer.
Walters and Campbell executive produce, alongside James Prichard for Agatha Christie Limited, Rebecca Durbin and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen, Robert Schildhouse, Jon Farrar and Stephen Nye for BritBox, and Nick Lambon for the BBC. The series is produced by Mammoth Screen, part of ITV Studios, and Agatha Christie Limited. Fifth Season handles global distribution.
A premiere date has not yet been announced. Hercule will air on BritBox in North America and on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the U.K.
