Pluto TV’s Double Feature Fridays returns Sept. 11 with Friday and A Hip Hop Story.
Friday, released in 1995, stars Ice Cube and Chris Tucker as two friends navigating one chaotic day in South Central Los Angeles. A Hip Hop Story stars Affion Crockett, Damaine Radcliff, Cedric the Entertainer, Wayne Brady and Lil Rel Howery in a satire about a music mogul teaming up with rap stars to save hip-hop culture.
An Entertainment Tonight segment hosted by correspondent Emily Curl will introduce the pairing, pulling never-before-seen interviews and archival footage of the films and their stars.
What is Pluto TV’s Double Feature Fridays?
The series, done in partnership with Entertainment Tonight, pairs an older studio favorite with a newer indie film each week, free to stream on the platform. Each pairing shares a connection through cast, genre or theme. New installments drop every Friday at 8 p.m. ET on Pluto TV Spotlight, later joining the on-demand Double Feature Fridays collection, and the series runs through the end of 2026.
Coming up, Pluto TV will pair Pitch Perfect with 40 Dates and 40 Nights on Sept. 18, followed by The Notebook and What’s Love Got to Do With It on Sept. 25.
