A24 has released the trailer for Primetime, starring Robert Pattinson as former To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen, ahead of the film’s world premiere in competition at the Venice International Film Festival next month.
What is ‘Primetime’ about?
Per the official description: “In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.” The film dramatizes the origins of the hidden-camera Dateline NBC segment, which paired Hansen with decoys posing as minors to confront adult men who arrived expecting to meet them.
Pattinson leads as Hansen and also produces through his Icki Eneo Arlo banner, alongside Lars Knudsen, Brighton McCloskey, Tyler Campellone, Fred Berger and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones.
He stars in the pic with Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Phoebe Bridgers, Matthew Maher, Bokeem Woodbine.
Primetime marks Lance Oppenheim’s narrative feature directorial debut. He directs from a script by Ajon Singh.
The film is the second project in two years to revisit To Catch a Predator. David Osit’s documentary Predators, built from raw series footage and interviews with former production members and Hansen himself, premiered at Sundance last year before a theatrical release from MTV Documentary Films, according to IndieWire.
When does ‘Primetime’ premiere?
Primetime premieres at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival in September, where it plays in the main competition, before opening in theaters Sept. 25.
