Tubi has released the trailer for Summer’s Last Resort, a new YA comedy starring Sophia Bush, Jerry O’Connell and Violet McGraw. The film also marks a Wynonna Earp reunion behind the camera — written by Emily Andras and directed by Melanie Scrofano, both of whom worked together on the series.
What is ‘Summer’s Last Resort’ about?
According to the official description, the film follows “a high-strung teen’s vacation takes a turn when she’s trapped with her free-spirited mom’s try-hard boyfriend, who also happens to be her vice principal. Determined to end the romance, she hatches a secret breakup plan that spirals into a week of sunburns, sabotage and unexpected feelings.”
Who plays who in ‘Summer’s Last Resort’?
McGraw plays Summer, described as “a tightly wound, hyper-competent teen who acts as her family’s default adult. Beneath the organized panic is a good time goblin dying to escape, and a daughter who just wants her mom to quit dating trainwrecks.” Bush plays Summer’s mom Milly, “a maternal storm of love and chaos who might forget it’s Picture Day, but remembers all of the magical moments.” O’Connell plays Glenn, the well-meaning vice principal who is in a relationship with Milly, much to Summer’s dismay. Tim Rozon rounds out the cast as Captain Otto, “a flip-flop-wearing wannabe pirate with movie-star swagger and criminal-adjacent instincts,” per the film’s announcement via The Hollywood Reporter.
Tubi chief content officer Adam Lewinson said of the project, “Sophia Bush, Jerry O’Connell, and Violet McGraw bring a perfect blend of humor and heart to this relatable comedy about growing up, letting go, and surviving the world’s most awkward family vacation.” Summer’s Last Resort is a Blue Ice Pictures production, with Lance Samuels and Andras executive producing.
When does ‘Summer’s Last Resort’ premiere?
