The Four Season Season 3 Renewal

Everything To Know About ‘The Four Seasons’ Season 3 So Far, Including David Tennant’s Expected Return

Netflix has renewed The Four Seasons for a third season, announced live at the BANFF World Media Festival by Netflix’s head of scripted series for US and Canada, Jinny Howe. The eight-episode season is currently in early development after Season 2 just premiered.

Co-creators and co-showrunners Tina Fey, Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield said in a statement, “We are thrilled to be able to bring a third season of The Four Seasons to life. Thank you to everyone who watched. Middle-aged people, LFG!”

What do we know about Season 3 of ‘The Four Seasons’?

Details for Season 3 are slim beyond the episode count of eight. The renewal follows a strong Season 2 performance. The season reached the Top 10 in 56 countries following its May 28 release and has remained on Netflix’s Global Top 10 since, driving Season 1 back onto the chart in the process.

Netflix VP of US Comedy Tracey Pakosta said in a statement, “It’s been a joy watching the chaotic, beautiful journey of these lifelong friends. Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield have a magical way of blending heart and sharp humor, making us feel like part of the inner circle. We’re thrilled to keep the vacation going for Season 3.”

Will David Tennant return for Season 3?

Tennant made a surprise appearance in the Season 2 finale as Gianpiero, an Italian neighbor and potential love interest for Anne (Kenney-Silver). Wigfield has teased “more stories with” Tennant’s character in Season 3, though no deals are in place yet, per Deadline. Separately, Fisher and Wigfield told Collider they have “a bigger part in mind for David Tennant in Season 3.”

On how Tennant came to be cast, Wigfield told Decider that Fey was the one who suggested him: “Tina, the first person she said was, ‘Well, someone like David Tennant, like a David Tennant kind of guy, as her neighbor.’ We were so thrilled that we went to him first and he said yes. He flew in and we shot it — it was just the one scene — so we shot it in one day, and he’s so lovely and he looks so good with Kerri.”

What happened in Season 2 of ‘The Four Seasons’?

According to the official description, Season 2 finds the core group — Kate (Fey), Jack (Will Forte), Anne (Kenney-Silver), Danny (Colman Domingo), Claude (Marco Calvani) and Ginny (Erika Henningsen) — carrying on their vacation tradition “now with a baby in tow,” traveling from the Jersey Shore and upstate New York to Italy. “With warmth and wit, personal blind spots surface as they each grieve their late friend and embark on new adventures.”

Season 2 guest stars include Steve Carell, David Tennant, Steven Pasquale, Alan Alda, Paula Pell and Toby Huss, among others.

The Four Seasons is produced for Netflix by Universal Television. Fey, Fisher and Wigfield serve as creators, showrunners, executive producers, directors and writers. David Miner, Eric Gurian and Jeff Richmond also executive produce.
