CBS wrapped the 2025-26 season with four cancellations, including two primetime dramas and a sitcom that aired for eight seasons.
Let’s take a look at the show’s that won’t be on air in 2027. Here is every CBS show that ended in 2026.
‘Watson’
Watson aired its final episode on May 3, 2026, after two seasons. The medical drama starring Morris Chestnut reimagined Sherlock Holmes’ Dr. Watson as a doctor solving medical mysteries.
CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach addressed the cancellation in April, said at a press event, per Deadline, “Morris Chestnut is maybe one of the greatest No. 1’s I’ve ever dealt with. But, you know, it’s a high bar on CBS. We aggregate all the numbers, and we have to make those tough decisions in order to make room for new shows.”
Creator Craig Sweeny said that writing the finale was a challenge given the uncertainty. “The season finale was tricky to write in that, even while we were filming it, we didn’t know if the show was coming back or not,” he said, as Deadline reported.
‘DMV’
DMV was cancelled alongside Watson in March after a single season. The comedy premiered in October 2025 and aired its last episode on May 11, 2026.
‘The Neighborhood’
The Neighborhood came to an end after eight seasons, with its final episode airing May 11, 2026. CBS announced the eighth season would be its last back in March 2025.
The series concluded with a double wedding between Calvin and Tina’s sons.
‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert aired its final episode on May 21, 2026. In a joint statement, CBS and Paramount called the move a cost-cutting decision. “This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount,” the executives said in a statement to The New York Times.
Colbert announced the news to his studio audience in July 2025. “Next year will be our last season. The network will be ending ‘The Late Show’ in May,” he told viewers. “I’m not being replaced. This is all just going away.”
What is CBS adding for the 2026-27 season?
To replace the cancelled shows, CBS has added four new series to its fall lineup: Cupertino, NCIS: New York, Einstein and Eternally Yours.
