Netflix has released the trailer for Heartstopper Forever, the finale film wrapping up Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie’s (Joe Locke) story. The trailer features the first use of “Stupid Song” from Olivia Rodrigo’s new album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Connor and Locke also serve as executive producers on the film for the first time.
Connor said of the farewell, “These characters have meant a lot to us over the years. As EPs, it feels like we can really say goodbye to them in a way that feels the most right. It is bittersweet, but it is also a really nice way of ending it.” Locke added, “This show has meant so much to me in my life. I’ll always carry that with me.”
What is ‘Heartstopper Forever’ about?
According to the official description, the film finds Nick and Charlie inseparable after Season 3, but “with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on.”
Creator and writer Alice Oseman told Netflix’s Tudum of what she hopes the film accomplishes, “I want the movie to capture this transitional moment for them as a couple — from teens to adults, from teen romance to forever love, from past to future. And in doing so, get to the heart of what teenage love can become as adolescence becomes a memory, and what teenage love can mean for people in the overall picture of their lives. An exploration of time, memory, love, pain, the changing of the seasons, endings and beginnings, and the core element of Heartstopper: the ordinary magic of our everyday lives.”
On ending the series as a film rather than another season, Oseman told Tudum, “With no need for end-of-episode cliffhangers or a new twist every episode, every part of Heartstopper can be elevated to a higher quality to create something memorable, sophisticated, and atmospheric.”

The full returning cast includes Kit Connor as Nick, Joe Locke as Charlie, Yasmin Finney as Elle Argent, Will Gao as Tao Xu, Corinna Brown as Tara Jones, Kizzy Edgell as Darcy Olsson, Tobie Donovan as Isaac Henderson, Rhea Norwood as Imogen Heaney, Jenny Walser as Tori Spring, Leila Khan as Sahar Zahid, Darragh Hand as Michael Holden, Bradley Riches as James McEwan, Fisayo Akinade as Mr. Ajayi, Nima Taleghani as Mr. Farouk and Eddie Marsan as Geoff Young. Anna Maxwell Martin and Derek Jacobi also join the cast in roles to be announced.
The film is written by Oseman and directed by Wash Westmoreland. Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Oseman, Euros Lyn, Locke and Connor executive produce. Heartstopper Forever is a See-Saw Films production for Netflix.
