Investigation Discovery is taking a closer look at Pearadise, a Las Vegas-based social media community that positioned itself as a space for body positivity and sisterhood among plus-size women. The three-part docuseries Big Girls Wanted: Escaping Pearadise examines both the community’s rise and the allegations of misconduct that followed.
What is ‘Big Girls Wanted: Escaping Pearadise’ about?
In 2020, Pearadise began attracting a following online, eventually reaching nearly 250,000 TikTok followers. Based out of a Las Vegas mansion, the collective presented itself as a safe, empowering space — but former participants began raising allegations of harassment, manipulation and coercive dynamics within the community.
The docuseries features access to founder Stefan Wilhelmy alongside women who currently live or previously lived in Pearadise, offering a range of perspectives on how the community was experienced from within. It also draws on archival material and expert insight into the community’s social media footprint.
ID President Jason Sarlanis said in a statement, “At Pearadise, what first seemed like a safe, empowering space for women seeking connection became something far more troubling for many who entered it. This documentary explores that divide through the voices of the women who lived it — some determined to shine a light on its darker realities, and others who still view it as a haven to this day.”
Big Girls Wanted: Escaping Pearadise is produced for Investigation Discovery by ISH Entertainment. Episodes will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
When does ‘Big Girls Wanted: Escaping Pearadise’ premiere?
Big Girls Wanted: Escaping Pearadise premieres June 10 from 8-11 p.m. ET on ID.
