‘Shifters’ Extends Its New York Run At Cherry Lane Theatre Through September 13

Shifters, Benedict Lombe’s romance, has extended its North American run at Cherry Lane Theatre through Sept. 13, two weeks past its original Aug. 30 closing date. The production is directed by Lynette Linton and produced by Idris Elba, Little Simz and Danai Gurira.

Lombe said in a statement, “New York audiences continuing to show up and receive our show with the love it was made in is a beautiful thing. Shifters extending in New York continues to be a historic moment for Black British culture on the international stage — and we love to see it.”

As previously reported, the play follows Dre and Des — “young, gifted, and Black. He stayed. She left. Years later, they come crashing back into each other’s lives, carrying new secrets and old scars.” Heather Agyepong and Daniel Ezra lead the cast.

Tickets for the extension run Aug. 31 through Sept. 13 are now on sale, with pricing ranging from $59 to $169. A limited selection of $24 rush seats are available in-person at the box office one hour before each performance. Tickets are available at cherrylanetheatre.org.
