Ms. Pat has signed an expanded exclusive overall deal with BET Studios, spanning content across Paramount platforms with the added ability to sell to third-party studios. The news arrives alongside the return of new episodes of Ms. Pat Settles It Season 3.
What does the new deal cover?
Under the multi-year agreement, Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams-Lee will develop, produce, write and perform in original programming across BET’s platforms and businesses, as well as third-party platforms across Paramount. The deal encompasses her existing slate, including the scripted comedy The Ms. Pat Show, which has been renewed for a sixth season, and the unscripted courtroom series Ms. Pat Settles It.
BET Studios EVP and head of creative Aisha Summers-Burke said in a statement, “Ms. Pat is one of the most distinctive voices working in television today, and expanding our partnership reflects both the strength of what she’s already created and our confidence in what’s ahead.” BET president Louis Carr added, “Ms. Pat is one of those voices; bold, authentic, and deeply rooted in the lived experiences of our community.”
Williams-Lee said of the partnership, “BET took a chance on my story when it was messy, loud, and unapologetically mine. This deal means I get to keep telling the truth, keep building, and keep making room for folks who’ve never seen themselves on screen. I’m just getting started!”
Season 6 of The Ms. Pat Show will stream on Paramount+. The series is produced by Imagine Entertainment, Jordan E. Cooper’s Cookout Entertainment and Lee Daniels Entertainment, executive produced by Brian Grazer, Lee Daniels, Jon Radler, Deb Evans, Patrick Walsh and Rose Catherine Pinkney, alongside Williams-Lee and Cooper.
