‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Season 2 Netflix Trailer Sees Toph Join The Gang: Here’s What Else To Know

Netflix has dropped the trailer for Season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, and it comes with the long-awaited introduction of Toph (Miyako), the fan-favorite earthbender, joining Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley) for the next chapter of their journey.

What happens in Season 2 of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’?

Per the official description, after a bittersweet victory saving the Northern Water Tribe, the Gaang sets off on a mission to convince the elusive Earth King to aid in their battle against Fire Lord Ozai. Along the way, Aang discovers Toph, an audacious young master of earthbending, and convinces her to help him add earthbending to his existing powers. Meanwhile, Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu) continues his quest to capture the Avatar while navigating his status as a fugitive, and his formidable sister Princess Azula (Elizabeth Yu) joins the fray.

Executive producers Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani told Netflix’s Tudum: “We’re looking forward to working with all of our actors again and digging into the deeper, more complicated relationships that develop as their journey continues in Season 2. We are going to show the real-world versions of iconic scenes from the original, and explore some of the stories that the animation didn’t.”

On what fans can expect, Boylan and Raisani added: “For the Gaang, fans can expect more brilliant plans from Sokka, even more masterful bending from Katara, Appa and Momo to be as fluffy as ever, and Aang to learn a new bending form (or two).”

Who joins the cast in Season 2?

Returning cast includes Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ousley, Liu, Yu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Daniel Dae Kim and Momona Tamada. New cast members joining Season 2, include Chin Han as Long Feng, Hoa Xuande as Professor Zei, Justin Chien as King Kuei, Amanda Zhou as Joo Dee, Crystal Yu as Lady Beifong, Kelemete Misipeka as The Boulder, Lourdes Faberes as General Sung, Rekha Sharma as Amita, Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong, Dolly de Leon as Lo and Li, Lily Gao as Ursa, Madison Hu as Fei and Dichen Lachman as Yangchen.

Christine Boylan serves as executive producer and writer alongside executive producer and director Jabbar Raisani, with directors Anu Menon, Amit Gupta and Hiromi Kamata also on board. Dan Lin and Ryan Halprin executive produce from Rideback, alongside Brendan Ferguson and Albert Kim.
