‘The Young and The Restless’ Casts Tetona Jackson, Who Is Taking Over Tatyana Ali’s Role As Roxanne

Tetona Jackson has been announced to play Roxanne Barrington on The Young and the Restless, taking over the role Tatyana Ali originated in 2007. TV Insider first broke the news. Fareed Ward is also joining the CBS soap as a new doctor, Dr. Andrew Bishop. Both make their debuts next month.

Jackson will play Roxanne, the ex-girlfriend of Devon Winters (Bryton James) who is returning to Genoa City. Roxanne and Devon were an on-again, off-again couple until she left town in 2013, according to TV Insider.

Ali, who is currently competing on Dancing with the Stars, won three consecutive NAACP Image Awards for her work on the soap. This would be the first daytime role for Jackson, whose work includes BET’s Boomerang reboot, and most recently, the short-lived CBS comedy series Poppa’s House with Damon Wayans Sr. and Jr.

Ward will play Dr. Andrew Bishop, a colleague of Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) and Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox). Stephanie is chief of staff at Genoa City Memorial Hospital. Nate recently returned to medicine after surgery to repair an injury from a fight with Devon.

The castings are the first announced by new co-head writers Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor, whose episodes begin airing Nov. 11, per TV Insider. CBS announced the pair July 29 as replacements for Josh Griffith, who stepped down as head writer in June after relinquishing his executive producer role.

Jackson and Ward make their debuts in November. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
