LaKeith Stanfield To Star In Horror Thriller On ‘Molepeople’ as Blumhouse Atomic Monster, Paramount Primal

,

LaKeith Stanfield and Ben Mendelsohn will star in Molepeople, a horror thriller directed by Rob Savage that pairs Blumhouse Atomic Monster with Paramount Primal. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news out of New York Comic Con, where Stanfield previewed the film and announced it is headed to theaters late next summer.

Per the logline, as quoted by Variety, a man descends into the abandoned tunnels beneath New York City, where he discovers a “twisted society lurking beneath the streets.”

Stanfield and Mendelsohn lead the cast. The film will be Stanfield’s third with Blumhouse, following 2014’s The Purge: Anarchy and Jordan Peele’s Oscar-winning Get Out.

Savage directs from a script by Nathan Elston. Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Paramount are co-financing and co-producing, and Paramount will distribute. Variety describes Paramount Primal as a specialty label in Skydance’s film division.

Jason Blum, Primal’s J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, and James Harris produce. Ryan Turek, Tracy Rosenblum, Elston and Savage are executive producers.

THR reports the project was previously in development as an indie before it moved to Paramount, when Lifshitz and Margules created Primal as their genre label. Sources told the outlet production is due to begin at the end of November or in early December in the U.K.

Molepeople is set for release Aug. 27, 2027.
