Kit Connor and Diana Silvers have signed on to star in Prǝppy, a true-crime drama film for STX Entertainment and Aggregate Films, directed by Janicza Bravo. Deadline exclusively broke the news.
Based on an original screenplay by David Levine and Rose Lichter-Marck, per Deadline, the film “explores the summer of 1986 leading to the murder of recent high school graduate Jennifer Levin at the hands of Robert Chambers, a former Manhattan private-school student, in New York’s Central Park.” The outlet notes the case, in which Chambers was dubbed the “Preppy Killer,” drew national attention and put issues of privilege, class and sex on trial.
Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan and John Buderwitz produce for Aggregate, alongside Peter Coleman and Paula Manzanedo for STX. Bravo, who previously directed Zola, Lemon and more, also produces.
Connor’s casting comes shortly after he landed the role of Cyclops in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film. He also has Andrew Haigh’s A Long Winter and Alex Garland’s Elden Ring adaptation for A24 coming. Silvers is known for Booksmart and Ma, along with the series Space Force and The Abandons. Bravo recently earned a DGA Award nomination for her work on FX’s The Bear.
