Street Fighter kicked off a promo tour in in Tokyo, where Paramount Pictures and Legendary Entertainment premiered a new trailer for the film on giant screens at Shinjuku Yunika Vision to open the movie’s “World Warrior Tour.”
Stars Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang and Jason Momoa appeared at the event alongside local cast member Hirooki Goto, Japanese voice talent Eiko Kano, director Kitao Sakurai and Street Fighter game director Takayuki Nakayama.
Alongside the launch, the studios also put out a version of the trailer fans can actually play through on YouTube, called the “Street Fighter Combo Challenge,” which they’re billing as the first playable full-length movie trailer of its kind.
Per the official description, set in 1993, “Estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past.”
Who stars in ‘Street Fighter’?
Centineo plays Ken Masters, Koji plays Ryu, and Liang plays Chun-Li. The cast also includes Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoai as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog and Momoa as Blanka.
Sakurai directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with T.J. Fixman, based on a story by Dalan Musson and Gary Dauberman. Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Momoa, Nakayama and Stefan Makhoul produce, with JJ Hook, Jay Ashenfelter, Kenzo Tsujimoto and Haruhiro Tsujimoto executive producing. The film is a Legendary Pictures production, presented by Paramount Pictures and Legendary in association with Capcom, based on the Capcom video game.
Street Fighter opens in theaters Oct. 16.
