KiKi Layne and Luke Hemsworth have joined Deadlocked, the Amazon MGM Studios action film. Deadline exclusively reported this news. Character details for the pair have not been disclosed. They join previously announced cast members Jamie Foxx and Sasha Calle.
Layne’s career took off when Barry Jenkins cast her in If Beale Street Could Talk. Since then, her varied career has included the Netflix Old Guard franchise, HBO’s Native Son, Coming 2 America and Don’t Worry Darling. Next year she’s set to appear in Prime Video’s upcoming The Boys prequel, Vought Rising.
Nikhil Bhat directs Deadlocked from a script by Eric Scot Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack, based on their original idea. Per the earlier Deadline report, the film follows “a grieving former Marine serving jury duty who is forced back into action when the trial of the century turns into a deadly hostage situation as the defendant’s daughter seizes the courthouse to free her father.” Fred Berger for Range, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Dave Caplan for C2, and Foxx for Foxxhole Productions produce, with AJ Bourscheid, Liz Destro, Paul Currie and Corinne Foxx executive producing.
The film will stream on Prime Video.
