Lifetime Adds ‘Sole Survivor of Flight 119,’ ‘The Ocean Between Them’ To Strength Of A Lifetime Slate

Lifetime has added two new movies inspired by true events to its Strength of a Lifetime September slate, joining the previously reported Robin Roberts Presents Angel in the Rubble: The Genelle Guzman Story starring Sherri Shepherd.

What is ‘Sole Survivor of Flight 119’ about?

Sole Survivor of Flight 119 stars Joy Bryant and Sarah Wayne Callies and is inspired by actual events and Tammy L. Kling’s memoir Exit Row. Per the official description, “after a routine flight takes a harrowing turn, Lisa Foster (Sarah Wayne Callies) survives a devastating plane crash deep in the Mexican jungle. As the sole survivor, she must rely on her resourcefulness, inner strength and faith to endure the unforgiving wilderness and find her way home to her young daughter. Meanwhile, Rebecca Till (Joy Bryant), an airline executive who narrowly missed boarding Flight 119, is assigned to assist the families of the missing passengers. As Rebecca forms an unlikely bond with Lisa’s loved ones, the final text Lisa sent moments before the crash, provides a breakthrough in the search, setting both women on an extraordinary journey that will challenge their beliefs and forever change their lives.”

Steven A. Adelson directs from a screen story by Ross Andrew Katz and teleplay by Katz and Jane Espenson. Brad Krevoy, Olivia Krevoy, Amy Hartwick, Ernie Barbarash, Amy Krell, Dattaguru Mahabal, Robert Bricker and Katz executive produce, with Darren Robson producing. The film is produced by All Canadian Entertainment for Lifetime.

What is ‘The Ocean Between Them’ about?

The Ocean Between Them stars Rebecca Gayheart, Jessica Lord and Karl Walcott, and is inspired by actual events. Per the official description, “Rebecca Gayheart (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Jawbreaker) as ‘Joan,’ a devoted mother whose world is upended when her daughter Miranda disappears at sea during a vacation in Belize.” After a heated argument sends Miranda (Jessica Lord) out kayaking alone, per the official description, “an unexpected storm leaves her stranded at sea. As Miranda battles the elements to stay alive, Joan refuses to give up, launching a relentless search that tests her resolve and pushes her beyond her limits.”

Georgia Dane, the real-life daughter of Gayheart and Eric Dane, appears as Joan’s younger daughter, Ashley. Gabriel Correa directs from a script by Sam Lee, Angela Gulner and Yuri Baranovsky. Stan Spry, Jeff Holland, Lisa Alford and Anthony Fankhauser executive produce. The film is produced by Evoke Entertainment for Lifetime.
