,

The American Black Film Festival (ABFF) has announced its programming slate for the second annual ABFF Pop Up Tour stop in New York City, taking place Oct. 10-11 at AMC Lincoln Square 13.

What’s on the ABFF New York Pop Up lineup?

The two-day slate opens with a Screenwriting Masterclass sponsored by the New York Film Academy, followed by a screening of The Rise: The New Moneyball, an episode from Hello Sunshine and Ally’s documentary series tracing the momentum of women’s professional sports.

Saturday also features a screening and talkback for Three Colors, winner of the 2026 ABFF Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature. Per the official description, the anthology, inspired by Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Three Colors Trilogy, “reimagines the concept through the colors of the Pan-African flag, weaving together three compelling stories of liberation, unity, and prosperity.” The film stars Loretta Devine, Bashir Salahuddin and Peyton Alex Smith, with a talkback to follow featuring co-director Elijah Davis. The day closes with the 2026 HBO Short Film Award Showcase, spotlighting five finalists selected from this year’s festival submissions.

Sunday opens with the New York Stories, Everywhere Short Film Showcase and talkback, followed by Icons, Idols + Influencers, a live conversation series featuring figures across film, television, music, sports and business. The afternoon includes a screening of the documentary Beyond Screening, which follows incarcerated men at Sing Sing Correctional Facility preparing for a TED-style event. The tour closes with a screening of Otra, winner of the 2026 ABFF Directing Award, a one-shot Latino musical starring Rome Flynn, María Gabriela de Faría, Dania Ramirez and Armani Ortiz.

Where else is the ABFF Pop Up Tour stopping?

The tour also stops in Washington, D.C. (Sept. 25-27 at Angelika Pop-Up at Union Market), Atlanta (Oct. 24-25 at AMC Madison Yards) and Houston (Nov. 7-8 at Regal Edwards Houston Marq’E). Ally Financial serves as founding and national presenting sponsor for the tour, with HBO and the New York Film Academy also sponsoring the New York stop.
