Netflix has released the first teaser for Animals, a political thriller starring, co-written and directed by Ben Affleck alongside Kerry Washington.
The film marks Affleck’s latest directorial effort following Air, and is produced in partnership with Artists Equity, the studio he co-founded with Matt Damon and Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital.
What is ‘Animals’ about?
Per the official description, “when their son is kidnapped, a Los Angeles mayoral candidate and his wife find themselves drawn into a web of deception. As they scramble to raise the ransom payment, they’re forced to make choices that could tear their world apart.”
Who stars in ‘Animals’?
Affleck stars as mayoral candidate Mark Kimball, alongside Washington as his wife, Abigail. The cast also includes Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, Luis Gerardo Méndez and Adriana Paz.
Affleck co-wrote the film with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray. Affleck, Damon and Dani Bernfeld produce alongside Brad Weston and Collin Creighton of Makeready, who developed the project with Fifth Season.
When does ‘Animals’ premiere?
Animals arrives in select theaters and on Netflix on Oct. 9.
