Sumerian Pictures has set a fall theatrical release for Josephine, the Sundance award-winning film starring Channing Tatum, Gemma Chan and Mason Reeves, alongside the release of an official teaser.
What is ‘Josephine’ about?
Per the official description, “based on writer/director/producer Beth de Araújo’s own lived experiences,” the film “follows the psychological fallout after eight-year-old Josephine (Reeves) witnesses a crime in Golden Gate Park. As she acts out, her parents (Tatum and Chan) struggle with helping their daughter cope, while facing their own fears around the topic and how to address it with their child.”
Who stars in ‘Josephine’?
Reeves stars as the title character, alongside Tatum and Chan as her parents. Philip Ettinger, Syra McCarthy and Eleanore Pienta round out the cast.
Josephine won the U.S. Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at Sundance. It marks de Araújo’s sophomore feature as writer, director and producer. Sumerian Pictures acquired U.S. rights to the film shortly after its Sundance run.
David Kaplan, Josh Peters, de Araújo, Marina Stabile, Tatum, Chan, Mark H. Rapaport, Josh Beirne-Golden and Crystine Zhang produce.
When does ‘Josephine’ premiere?
Josephine opens in select theaters Nov. 20, expanding nationwide Dec. 4.
