Paramount+ and Prime Video UK have announced Trauma, a new medical action-thriller series starring Richard Madden, greenlit through a unique model at the two streamers, set by its producers, Lionsgate Television and 42 Management & Production.
According to the official description, the series follows “former Royal Marines medic turned ER doctor Jim Marchant (Madden)” who “must fight his way through” a busy London hospital after “terrorists seize” it and “take the Prime Minister hostage during surgery. As he takes the hospital floor by floor, the balance of power shifts — and the building becomes a deadly battle of strategy, nerve and survival.”
Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+, said in a statement, “Geoff Bussetil has crafted a nail-biting thriller that puts our audience inside one impossible night with a hero played by the incredibly talented Richard Madden.”
Trauma is created and written by Geoff Bussetil and directed by Daniel Syrkin. Madden, Syrkin and 42’s Ben Pugh and Ben Cavey executive produce.
The series will premiere on Paramount+ in all available territories excluding the U.K. and Ireland, where it’ll air on Prime Video UK.
