Peacock and A24 have released the first look teaser and images for Crystal Lake, the highly anticipated prequel series to the Friday the 13th franchise. Linda Cardellini stars as Pamela Voorhees in the eight-episode series, premiering this October just in time for Halloween season.
The series has had a long road to screen. It was originally picked up straight to series at Peacock in 2022, initially set up with Bryan Fuller as showrunner and Kevin Williamson contributing a writing credit. Fuller departed the project in 2024, with Brad Caleb Kane, co-showrunner of It: Welcome to Derry, taking over, per Variety. Original Friday the 13th screenwriter Victor Miller remains onboard as executive producer. The series is set in the 1970s.
What is ‘Crystal Lake’ about?
According to the official description, the series follows “single mother Pam Voorhees who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?”
Per Deadline, Cardellini’s Pamela is a woman who gave up a singing career to raise a special needs child, with the series beginning around the circumstances of Jason’s drowning and following “Pam’s descent into madness.” Kane told Entertainment Weekly the show is “a mixtape of genre,” adding, “Everybody in this world is living in a different genre in their mind, until they collide with the genre that Pam is in.” He confirmed the series is “100 percent” still a slasher.
Who stars in ‘Crystal Lake’?
Cardellini leads the cast as Pamela Voorhees, with Callum Vinson as young Jason Voorhees. The ensemble cast of series regulars also includes William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Recurring cast members include Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch and Phoenix Parnevik.
Kane creates, writes and showruns alongside executive producers Miller, Marc Toberoff, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Manashil, Tyson Bidner and Michael Lennox. Michael Lennox directs Episodes 1-3, Celine Held and Logan George direct Episodes 4-6, and Quyen Tran directs Episodes 7-8. It is produced by A24 for Peacock.

Crystal Lake premieres Oct. 15 on Peacock with all eight episodes.
