Netflix has released the official teaser for Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again?, the third installment in the franchise and the first to bring the original couples back together since Why Did I Get Married Too? in 2010. The film is set at a destination wedding in Lake Como, Italy, where Marcus and Angela’s daughter is tying the knot — 16 years after audiences last saw these couples.
The previous two films are now streaming on Netflix ahead of the sequel’s arrival. The latest WDIGM film falls under Perry’s extensive partnership with Netflix that has included multiple series and films.
What is ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’ about?
According to the official description, “the couples reunite in celebration as Marcus and Angela’s daughter prepares to tie the knot. After being apart for quite some time, they learn quickly that as much as things change, they stay the same. Realizing their children have grown up to be so much like them, they must reflect on the examples they’ve set and ask themselves that age-old question, why did they get married… again?”
Perry previously told People that reuniting with the cast “felt like putting on a warm robe,” adding, “I am most excited for audiences to see how these characters have matured and how their love for each other took them through some really hard times.”
Who stars in ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’
The full returning and new cast includes Perry, Taraji P. Henson, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker, Sharon Leal, Armani Greer, Everett Osborne, Da’Vinchi, Laya DeLeon Hayes, Jaden Michael, Charles L. Smith II, Derrick A. King and Sydney Winbush. Henson plays Roselyn, described by Perry to People as “the fierce, powerful businesswoman who travels with the group to Lake Como to see her son get married.” Perry writes, directs and produces alongside Angi Bones and Tony Strickland.
