Paramount+ has revealed the trailer, first look images and premiere date for Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, the feature-length film which is the latest work in the animated Avatar: The Last Airbender universe. The film premieres later this month on Paramount+ and will have a Hall H panel and fan screening at San Diego Comic-Con ahead of its debut.
The series is the latest Avatar animated project following The Legend of Korra, and the film comes ahead of the new animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens. As many may know, the Avatar Aang film was intended for a theatrical release before Paramount moved it to a streaming debut.
What is ‘Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender’ about?
According to the official description, the film sees “Avatar Aang, the world’s last Airbender, learn of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction. With the help of his friends, he embarks on a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands and threatens to upend the peace they sacrificed everything to achieve.”
Who stars in ‘Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender’?
Eric Nam voices Aang, Dave Bautista voices Tagah, Jessica Matten voices Katara, Román Zaragoza voices Sokka, Steven Yeun voices Zuko and Dionne Quan voices Toph. The cast also includes Freida Pinto, Ke Huy Quan, Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Ronny Chieng and Ken Jeong. Dee Bradley Baker reprises his roles as Appa and Momo.
The film is directed by Lauren Montgomery and co-directed by Steve Ahn and William Mata. Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, creators of the original animated series, produce alongside Latifa Ouaou and Maryann Garger. The screenplay is written by Tim Hedrick and Christopher Yost.
What is happening at Comic-Con for ‘Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender’?
The film heads to San Diego Comic-Con with a Hall H panel on July 23 from 1-2 p.m. featuring the voice cast and creative team, followed by a fan screening in Ballroom 20 on July 24 from 7-9:20 p.m. Fans can also visit Paramount+’s booth at #3529 on the convention floor, which features an Avatar-themed “Cabbage Cart Madness” arcade game.
