Meghann Fahy will star alongside Glenn Howerton in The Girlfriend, a new film directed by Natalie Morales for XYZ Films. Howerton co-wrote the script with Rich Appel.
What is ‘The Girlfriend’ about?
According to the official description, “Claire gives up her perfect New York City life and moves to Alabama for her husband Elliot’s (Howerton) dream job. Seeing her isolated, friendless, and unhappy, Elliot does what any loving husband would do: he secretly hires an escort (Fahy) to be her new best friend.”
XYZ Films is financing and producing in association with BuzzFeed Studios. Shawn Levy and Dan Levine produce for 21 Laps, alongside Jill Howerton and Glenn Howerton for Zoe Knife Productions, Rich Appel for Persons Unknown, and Guy Danella and Nick Spicer for XYZ Films.
This marks Fahy’s second collaboration with both XYZ Films and 21 Laps. She previously worked with XYZ on the thriller Banquet and with 21 Laps on The Perfect Couple. Fahy is also set to star opposite Rose Byrne in Peacock’s The Good Daughter, premiering this November, and opposite Penn Badgley in You Deserve Each Other in January.
When does ‘The Girlfriend’ begin production?
Production is set to begin at the end of June.
